John Caddel grew up in South Texas and received his B.S. degree from Texas A&I University in 1966. His graduate work was at Oklahoma State University where he received a Ph.D. in 1971. From 1971 to 1977 he worked in Morocco with the University of Minnesota’s USAID project. He returned to Oklahoma State University in 1977 as an alfalfa breeder and teacher. From 1991 to the present his position has been forage Extension agronomist and legume breeder. He provides leadership in the development of multidisciplinary educational programs with emphasis on alfalfa in central and west parts of the state and clovers in eastern pastures. Much of his recent Extension activity has been devoted to the development of Oklahoma Alfalfa on-line and Oklahoma Forages on-line, and he maintains the web pages for the North American Alfalfa Improvement Conference and the Southern Pasture and Forage Crop Improvement Conference.
